On the closing day of the Andalucia Classic Championship, World Amateur Tour players teed off in iconic Valderrama Golf Club, host of 20 international tournaments to date.
Augustin Mazarrasa (Spain), resident of neighbouring Sotogrande Golf Club, took advantage of his knowledge of the course to claim the title on his first appearance on the Tour. From tee 1 to the 15th he stayed one shot behind contender François de la Villardière. By scoring 2 birdies on n°15 & 16 and paring the last two holes, Augustin secured his first place by totalling 63 points in stableford.
Tied with Benoit Godeau (France) in 2nd position, Michel Duplessier (France) once again honoured the colours of Joyenval Golf Club by overcoming the complexity of the course and proving to be a strong contender for the title of Champion of the Year.
In the women’s serie, for her first appearance on the Tour, Santi Villena (Spain) took the lead with 41 points in stableford.
