nly a couple of weeks before welcoming the best European Tour players, the Oitavos Dunes was chosen to welcome the 2nd leg of the 2019 World Amateur Tour for the Portuguese Championship.
The beautiful Links, designed by Arthur Hills offered the players a real test as the weather conditions over the first day were more of a Scottish style than the traditional Portuguese spring.
As the first round started, Gilbert De Decker played a very consistent golf, in spite of the wind, to surge into the lead after the first 18 holes, shooting birdies on 6,7,8 and 13 to close his round with 32 points, one shot ahead of Sylvain Berger-Duquene.
On the second round, a new course was offered to the players as the weather conditions drastically improved, unveiling the beauty and changing colors of Oitavos Dunes Links.
