French and Indian victories at the Dubai Final Championship


The Dubai Final Championship closing day was marked by a hard fought battle between Yann Robin (France) and Dominique Rey (Switzerland) for the Title.

Getting off to an excellent start with 2 birdies on the first 3 holes, Rey’s performance was replicated by Robin on n°3 through 7, resulting in a tie on the front nine.

Robin finally took the lead by scoring a 3rd birdie on n°11. Dominating his contender through the 18th he claimed his first victory on the Tour by totalling 65 points in stableford.

In the 2nd Serie, for his sixth participation in 2016, Gilbert De Decker claimed the title.  Other fine performances came from French players Philippe Carle, Vincent Carle & Jean-François Jeanne respectively up 10, 9 and 7 places in the ranking.

In the Women Serie, Henna Jodha (India), once again demonstrated her skill and level of play, turning in the best card of the day while defending Champion Lizanne Heydenrych (South Africa) secured the second place after playing a very consistent round.

Once again, the Dubai Final Championship brought a lot of emotions to all the players as they enjoyed the quality of both Creek and Majlis courses. Winner Yann Robin concluded : « the experience here in Dubai this week is already one of my best golfing memories ».

All the players are now focusing on the 2017 season and its upcoming schedule.
